I took a Sunday drive out of the city to a Bird Sanctuary. It was hard to find. To begin with the road signs were wrong. When I figured that out, I went from highway to secondary highway to gravel road to a very bumpy dirt road and then finally a path. Then, to my disappointment, there were almost no birds there. But when the sun began to set Snow Geese flew in from almost everywhere to land for the night on their journey south. Things went from dry empty desolation to suddenly being full of noisy vigorous bird life.
