5MAR05 - Northern Hawk Owl (Surnia ulula)

This posting is dedicated to the members of the Fort Saskatchewan Naturalist Society who observed this beautiful bird along with me just east of Edmonton after a wonderful couple pointed it out to us high in an Aspen tree. Looking through my photographs I was pleased to discover that I had photographed a similar bird a couple of weeks ago one frosty morning in almost the same location.

Chantal - What a beautiful portrait of an owl..... normally they are not so easy to spot, let alone to get on picture..... this one is great.
